The only thrift shop in Penang that opens four days in a week would have to be the Women Crisis Centre (WCC) Value Shop.
I think the fact that it closes for three days, makes shopping here an exciting experience. When its open for business, you are would be able to see the store selling new things. That's why it's always exciting to visit this shop when it opens on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Profit from this initiative is used to fund WCC in its efforts to help abused women and children. It's a social enterprise with a great cause.
The store relies on its sheer number of volunteers to operate it. The volunteers are generally talkative and friendly but I wouldn't try to bargain here.
Items sold are mostly women's clothing priced from RM5 onwards. They also sell men's clothes, bags, ties, children clothes, shoes, toys and miscellaneous items. Most of it is generally in good condition. No bulky furniture here.
They have a wide range of knick-knacks especially for those who love frames and ceramic pieces. Items are not dusty and mostly in good condition.
The items sold here are high quality and great brands. It's also another added bonus that the store's location is near George Town.
